Idea

I am always thinking about a new way to make money.

One of my clients told me she thought I should become a STYLIST. You know, like Ophrah has, someone to tell what to wear, clothing, makeup and all. Am thinking about getting training in NY. (Hey, any excuse to go to the Big Apple!)

Anyway, I was trained in Color Analysis in the 80's. And, our clothes SPEAK. Like I was realizing what I was wearing to work was saying, "I don't want to be here, I would rather be off and having fun."

So, since she suggested being a Stylist, I have been dressing more professionally and all my clients have been saying how great I look and where am I going after work?!

So, it works! How we dress communicates our intents.

I have a great clientle. They are faithful and wonderfully appreciative of what I do with their hair. But, maybe I can develope a second income stream, organizing closets, doing color analysis and wardrobe assessments.

So, tell me, what do your clothing choices say about you? Talk to me!

My clothes say, "she does her own thing...don't know what that is but she does."

My clothes say I'm old and comfortable. I dress rather casually, peddle pushers and shorts with tennis shoes. If I were to dress up, someone would ask me who died.

Go for it...that's what I say if you want to be a stylist, just don't give up blogging.

Mainly I'm skint. Occasionally I'm an aged punk. I remember my clothing choices once saying you've lost 3 stone and need a belt 'cause me trousers kept falling down......

What an exciting idea!

The only thing my clothing choices say about me at the moment, is that I'm wearing whatever is a comfortable fit on the day, lol!

Good grief - you asked for it....

I have three levels of clothing they are.

1. Going to work - black trousers, either too tight (optimistic diet plans) or too baggy around the arse. Blue shirt (well sometimes another colour but predominantly blue - it's a tradition at our company) a suitable tie from my collection that hasn't changed much in 20 years.
2. Not at work. In winter a rugby shirt, England, Barbarians etc. Jeans blue or black doesn't matter. Summer - ditto but a tee shirt, normally a free one from a charity swimming event (cheap or what!)
3. Dressing up to go out (about once a year) black trousers (same as work) shirt - I try for it not to be blue....

What's this say - that I haven't a clue. My 10 year old daughter dispairs - my wife .... "Oh you're wearing that are you?" Me clueless.

My clothing says a couple of things...but mostly "that gal is busy walking!" I walk really fast. I just posted a photo of me on my blog from this weekend when we were out shopping and running errands. Bright and practical.

But I clean up real good.

It is very true that clothes and make up make an impression.

See for your self what my clothes say! :)

Hattigrace, that is a fabulous idea! and much more in line with what you love to do...help people feel wonderful!!

Clothing definitely says something...a few years ago, I was in a not very good place - depressed, angry, despairing, apathetic - and it showed in my clothes...I just could not be bothered to look good, let alone put together an outfit! Now that things are better, it's much more fun to dress up and go out...and I take a lot more care with my outer appearance. Your outside truly matches your inside!

Mrs. Hatti Grace...no way! If you go to NY to be a stylist, you have to take me! Dude, being an avid shopper myself, I know a thing or two about clothing and have even had to improve on my own.

Like this one time, I was on my way to a concert and my jeans ripped this huge hole that went from my thigh to the the belt loop area. We didnt have any thread and it was too late to go back and change my outfit, so I did the next best thing, cut a long piece of flower wire and "sewed" my jeans together with the wire. It was so awesome and people kept asking me where I got my jeans.

So I think it would be cool to learn more about that aspect of the fashion world, you know? And someone as creative as you Mrs. Hatti Grace could totally do it! Just take me along to be your assistant or whatever...

My clothes? They usually make others say "????" but I'm comfy ... in the clothes but more importantly in the skin inside the clothes.

This is a cool idea and something you could totally do...the thing is you probalby will have to go for upscale clientele...they are the ones who would pay for such service...which means training in NYC is a must...(like you say,,,any excuse to go :))....and educating yourself on style with a capital S so you can talk the talk ...(I know these things as my hubby does some of this) He can talk fast cars, fine whiskey, or top of the line watches...its all part of the biz...:)
My clothes say confident, a bit bold, a little sexy, a little bit of "look at me" some silly fun mixed in and hopefully class...though not always, its a tightrope I'm walkin...LOL

I am refusing to remove my England top for the duration of the World Cup. I am beginning to whiff a bit. I think I'd better buy another 1. or 2. or, if England go all the way, several...

Ah, Hatti - I wish I could hire you as a consultant to come out here and give our office a makeover! Hey, I wonder if I could talk my boss into it, then we would have to talk the Commissioners into it. There are sixteen of us - or 15. One guy, who is pretty sharp looking - and sweet. I wonder if we could coordinate it with a teaching seminar for hairstylists (God knows they need it), so you would have a shop to work out of? What would you charge? Pray about it, I'll ask my boss, and we'll email.
